Apple’s Beats hasn’t much more to “announce”. Amazon published an listing for the rumored beats Studio Buds Plus on Tuesday evening. The page has every detail about the buds, including a more powerful active noise cancelation than the original Studio Buds and better air venting.
Amazon reports that the Studio Buds Plus are expected to sell for $169.95 on May 18th. This is a $20 increase over the standard Studio Buds, released in 2021. The case and buds are very similar to the original pair. The Studio Buds are extremely comfortable. I wasn’t a fan of their sound or the ANC, but they were very comfortable.
The Studio Buds Plus must now compete with another Apple product, the AirPods Pro, which is a more powerful competitor. These earbuds are praised for their audio quality, noise cancellation and adaptive transparency modes.
Beats won’t outperform AirPods Pro but it is clearly trying to get closer than what the original Studio Buds were able to manage.
Amazon’s listing states that the device has a 36-hour battery life. It also mentions larger microphones, which could theoretically enhance voice quality. Four sizes of bundled eartips are included in the bundle including a small extra set.
Studio Buds Plus, of course will also support spatial audio. As with the original pair, this is being marketed to both iPhone and Android users. They don’t contain Apple chips like the AirPods, or the Beats Fit Pro. They do have some of the same features, like hands-free Siri and Find My integration.
I am looking forward to trying these buds out (and the transparent set) as quickly as possible. I have hoped Beats will release this style since they briefly showed a pair of Studio Buds that were clear in a video behind the design for the original product. There’s going to be some competition.
According to a listing that is likely to disappear any moment now, the Studio Buds Plus also comes in black or white.
