Apple’s AirTag trackers will soon be more useful. With iOS 17, you can share them with up to five people.
You can now track all communal items, and not just your own. Where are the house car keys? What about that Apple TV remote to which we attached an AirTag because it does not have a UWB Locator of its own ? Where’s the Switch? It’s time for me to Play Zelda
It’s not a lie that I bought more than one AirTag, because I lost my wallet. Apple’s tracker is a little too bulky. It might also make sense to have other communal items, such as a Find My-equipped mug. From Apple’s press release “Everyone will be able see the location of an item, play a noise, and use Precision Search”
This change may not please those who are worried about stalkers or domestic abusers. Trackers can be dangerous technology if they fall into the wrong hands. Don’t accept an AirTag from someone who adds you. They could place the AirTag in your car or on your person and stalk you.
iPhones will alert you when an AirTag that you don’t know is traveling with you. Previously, you could “borrow”, an AirTag equipped item either by turning off the alert. Or you could find it and deactivate via an alert. Google and Apple are now working together . If you accept an AirTag shared by someone, you won’t be alerted.
