Many users are experiencing problems with Apple’s Weather app for iPhone today. The problems began at midnight ET and continued throughout the morning in many places. iPhone users reported that they were unable to access the Weather app, and no old weather data was available.
9to5Macnotes While the main Weather app has been broken for many users, the Apple Watch version works fine for everyone. Apple sent a support notice earlier today stating that some users were affected by the absence of Weather data. Apple’s support notice states that next-hour precipitation may not be available for Alaska because of a data provider failure, but the problem is much more widespread than Alaska.
Apple’s Weather app problems come just one week after Dark Sky briefly returned. Apple purchased Dark Sky in 2020, and then shut it down. Some of its features were moved into the Weather app. The Dark Sky app briefly resurrected last week, before disappearing once again.
While Apple’s new Weather app works well, many people still miss the Dark Sky app. Apple has now added rain alerts. However, you can’t choose whether you want alerts for heavy, medium or light rain. This is especially annoying in countries like England where it rains often. Apple is located in California’s Silicon Valley. It rains very rarely, so Apple’s software developers probably forgot to migrate that important feature from Dark Sky.
Although it is not clear why the Apple Weather app is experiencing recurring problems, users can still use third-party apps such as Carot Weather. This app is a combination of weather forecasting and humor, with ChatGPT integration recently added.
It can be asked by users to ask it Artificial Intelligence “to play a text adventure game or write a procedural criminal drama or tell you my true thoughts about my Maker.” You can also fine-tune me personality to alter how I respond.”
CARROT also expanded its high-quality radar coverage for all European countries, including Australia and South Korea. Access to the Inspector feature requires Premium Ultra tier. You can also change the color palette.
The Apple Weather app has been unreliable over the past week. This is a sign of users’ growing disdain for the stock app. Dark Sky, meanwhile, was shut down by Cupertino after it had only implemented a few features to its app.
