Artifact, a news app launched by the co-founders of Instagram, announced on Tuesday a new AI function that will summarize articles for you. The best thing about this feature is the fact that it can summarize articles in a variety of tones, which are both funny and useful.
You can also ask Artifact to summarize in different tones, including “Explain Like I’m Five,” “Emoji,” “Poem,” and “Gen Z” by tapping the three dots menu within that black box. By tapping the three-dot menu within that black box, you can ask Artifact for different tones of summary. These include “Explain like I’m five,” “Emoji,” or “Gen Z.
To satisfy my curiosity, I tried the feature on my review for Horizon Forbidden West : Forbidden Shores. The article I chose was a little longer than the other posts that I had published on Tuesday. I also wanted to test how the AI would react in this context.
It did surprisingly well in all five different tones. The bluntness of “Explain like I’m five” was appealing, and although “Poem,” which wasn’t 100% accurate but still made me smile, was also good.
I will probably use the “Summary Tone” if I ever use this feature again. Artifact warns that AI is capable of making mistakes. If you choose the summary option, read the whole article to ensure you understand the story.
The options are great. Some things I need to be explained like a five-year-old.
