Google I/O 2023 is getting closer, and this year’s event looks like it will feature new hardware. Google will announce the Pixel 7A, its new mid-tier phone, at the May 10th I/O keynote. The history of the company is one of complete incompetence when containing leaks or product secrecy. the 7A is no exception.
We’re now able to see via the official Google marketing renders of this phone. They show off a new color option for the phone, which will be available alongside white and black. This is a muted, but still far from the original Pixel. Google seems to be reluctant to use bold colors again.
Is it worth waiting for a $449 Pixel 7,
These images were published by My Smart Price as well as OnLeaks. They confirm that the Pixel 7A will be closer to Google’s flagship phones, than any other A-Series. The camera bar is the same, with two lenses cut out. The side rails are also metal (like the 6A). This device would be difficult to distinguish from the Pixel 7 last year’s Pixel 7 if it weren’t for the larger display bezels.
Rumours suggest that the Pixel 7A will be powered by the same Tensor G2 chips as the 7 Pro and 7 Pro. Google seems to finally bow to Samsung, OnePlus and other rivals by adding a 90Hz display. This would be another specification that it shares with Pixel 7.
While there will be some differences, including camera hardware, Google appears to be poised for improvements to the Pixel 6A. Keep in mind that The Pixel 7 is still on sale at $449 and the 6A is on clearance at $299. So the big question is what the 7A’s final price will be. In a few weeks, we’ll have more information about this (alongside the rest of the new products) Personally, I am more excited about the rumored Pixel Fold being the next entry in the foldable phones market.
The most unusual colour option is Arctic Blue. Arctic Blue will replace ‘Sage” for the Pixel 6a. With a display of 90 Hz and wireless charging support, the Pixel 7a will be closer to the Pixel7 than it was to the Pixel6. Next month, the Pixel 7a will be unveiled at Google’s I/O 2023 keynote. The company may also unveil the Pixel Tablet and the Pixel Fold.
