Meta’s Facebook Gaming Division is making Messenger Video Calls more interesting by offering a new set free-to-play games that you can access with your friends while you chat with them face-to-face, regardless of where you are located. This feature is quite late in the post covid lockdown world, but it’s great for short sessions of Words with Friends and Mini Golf FRVR.
Messenger’s new video calling gaming feature is the best thing about it. You can initiate a video chat with one or more friends by tapping the group mode button at the center. Next, click the Play icon and select a game from the library. No downloading or installation is required.
Facebook introduced an AR games platform in Messenger in 2018. It allows up to six friends to jump on a call to play games such as Don’t Smile which, as its title suggests, challenges friends to not smile — but this rollout also brings in real mobile games that have been successful beyond Messenger. Playing Exploding Kittens over Messenger.
Messenger video calls now offers a new set of games for iOS, Android and web browser users. The current library includes 14 games, most of which require two players. More games are planned as Facebook Gaming appeals developers to add the feature to their games.
Video calls are a great way for friends to chat while playing games. However, many platforms don’t have the ability to create a fun, quick session that doesn’t involve layering conversations across multiple services or setting up an event with screen-sharing participants. Be ready to meet your aunts who will be urging you to play Go Fish instead of video.
You can play each game with only two players, but the maximum number of people you can have is not set.
You can access the games by launching a video chat on Messenger and then tapping the group mode button at the centre. After tapping the icon, they will see the Play icon. This will take them to their games library.
According to the company, it will work to add more games to Messenger in 2011.
Meta announced in March 2023 that it was testing Messenger and reintroducing Messenger to its Facebook App. This will allow users to access their inbox directly from the main platform.
It is not clear, however, if Messenger video calls will be integrated into the app by the company.
It stated that they are currently testing the ability to allow people to access their Messenger Inboxes within the Facebook app. They will expand this testing shortly.
“Ultimately, we want it easy and convenient for people connect and share via the Messenger app and directly within Facebook.”
