Microsoft has added a green screen feature to Microsoft Teams. This feature is designed to enhance the virtual backgrounds of Microsoft Teams by increasing the sharpness, definition, and color of your background around your head, ears, and hair. It works best when you have a dedicated green screen. However, it can also be used with a solid background wall or green color behind you.
Jan Steberl, Microsoft Teams program manger, stated that the background wall or screen must be flat and free from stains or any other irregularities in a blog article. To enable green screen effect, users must use a background effect to Teams meetings. They should choose the right backdrop color and ensure that it is applied correctly.
You can now enable the green screen feature in Microsoft Teams’ public preview channel. However, you will need to apply a background effect to a Teams meeting first before you can enable it. If you have a dedicated greenscreen, you can choose the color of the wall to be behind you.
Microsoft states that the feature can only be used on Windows or macOS devices that have Intel chips. This excludes AMD-powered laptops as well as Macs with M1 and M2 chips. This green screen feature will also remove background blur, but is not currently supported in Together Mode.
