Today, OnePlus introduces the OnePlus Nord CE 3 Lite smartphone to its midrange Nord line-up. It has a bad name, but it offers interesting specs for the relatively low EUR329 (PS299) cost. It will be available in Europe starting April 20th. However, it will not be available in the US.
The OnePlus Nord Buds 2 is a brand new pair of true wireless earbuds. They will be available on the US, as well as European and Asian markets.
The 108-megapixel main camera sensor is at the top of the Nord CE 3 Lite’s list of notable inclusions. This resolution is the same as the Samsung flagship Galaxy S20 U in 2020. However, the company has added a 200 megapixel sensor to this year’s flagship. While megapixels may not be the best quality in camera quality, high resolution sensors are more than a marketing gimmick. This shot should illustrate the 120Hz refresh rate of the phone.
Nord CE 3 Lite’s fast charging speeds of up to 67W are another thing worth noting. It can charge the 5,000mAh battery up to 80 percent in just 30 minutes. That’s not too bad for a device this affordable. This is slightly more than the 33W fast charge offered last year by the Nord CE 2 Lite. It’s also higher than the 65W offered last year by the OnePlus Nord CE 2.
You might find the naming scheme for OnePlus’ Nord lineup confusing. The range is now divided into three tiers in Europe. There’s the standard numbered Nord (Nord and Nord ), and the step-down Nord Core Edition, or CE. Next, there’s the more affordable “CE Lite” device. The US Nord devices are given a new naming scheme. This includes the Nord and Nord. The name “OnePlus Nord CE 3 Lite” is a bit confusing, given that most people don’t have this background.
Now, let’s get back to the Nord CE 3 Lite. Technically, it is the Nord CE 3 Lite , , but they come on. The Snapdragon 695 processor is the midrange of the range and it has 8GB RAM. In Europe, 128GB storage is available. MicroSD support is available for up to 1TB cards. It technically has a triple camera setup. However, the secondary cameras offer a two-megapixel macro and depth assist. OnePlus claims that the main sensor’s resolution allows it to offer a “3x lostless zoom” without the need for a separate telephoto lens. The OnePlus One is available in gray and lime green. It will receive two years of Android software updates, plus an additional year’s security updates.
According to OnePlus, the Nord CE 3 Lite has a headphone jack. However, there are stereo speakers that can “be increased upto 200 percent” according to OnePlus. This sounds absurdly similar to Spinal Tap’s amplifiers, which can turn up to 11. This claim is based on the optimizations OnePlus made to increase the loudness of Nord CE 3 Lite’s speaker hardware. The Nord CE 3 Lite’s LCD display is 6.72 inches wide and has a 1080p resolution. It also features a 120Hz refresh speed.
OnePlus also announced the OnePlus Nord Buds 2, a successor to the OnePlus Nord Buds last year. Active noise cancellation is the big feature. The Nord 2 earbuds can be purchased in the US and Europe at $59/EUR69/PS69. This is slightly more than the last-time price of $39/EUR49/PS49.
The Nord Buds 2 have a similar set features to the original Nord Buds, but without ANC. With ANC turned on, the buds will last for five hours before needing to be recharged. This can increase to up to 27 hours if the case is included. You can turn ANC off to get seven hours of battery life from the buds or 36 hours with the case (upped from 30 hours). The buds have an IP55 rating, which means they are dust- and water-resistant. They also come in gray and white.
While OnePlus’ flagship phones are not always perfect or missing, the Nord line has been solid and more forgiving at its midrange price point. It will be interesting to see if the Nord CE 3 Lite follows this trend.
