Slack is a natively integrated AI feature that will be developed for Slack. This AI feature could boost productivity and not disrupt the way users interact with Slack. You can direct the length and tone of messages written directly in Slack, or even have Slack attend Huddles for you and summarize any messages that you missed.
Slack GPT was introduced at the Salesforce World Tour on Thursday. It is a new generative AI app that has three major focus points: natively integrated AI, customizable automated workflows and an Einstein GPT Slack app. Slack GPT will not be available for everyday users until the end of this year, but these announcements give us a peek into what’s to come. Slack did not mention how Slack’s GPT will adjust the tone of message, but it is early days.
Slack GPT provides users with enhanced tools to build customized workflows for automating tasks using simple prompts – no coding knowledge required. Teams can integrate large language models (LLMs) like Anthropic’s Claude and OpenAI’s ChatGPT into this process. (Currently in beta). Anthropic, OpenAI and Salesforce claim that they won’t be using any data from Slack apps for training their language models. However, companies can integrate their proprietary software or LLMs to the Slack ecosystem to ensure privacy.
Einstein GPt, a generative AI Assistant created by Salesforce, is being adapted to a Slack App. Einstein GPT, which can access customer data from Salesforce Customer 360 and the Data Cloud in real-time, could be integrated with Slack workflows so that teams are automatically notified of new leads or updates on ongoing sales projects. In 2021, Salesforce paid $27.7 Billion to acquire Slack. It’s no wonder then that it is working to integrate the two platforms.
Lidiane J. Jones, CEO at Slack, said that “Generative AI can unlock productivity and redefine the way work is done.” The real power of AI is when it can act and analyze the most valuable data derived from an organization’s most trusted source — its internal knowledge.
No release date has been set for these Slack GPT Features. The Workflow Builder should be available “this summer” and the Einstein GPT App for Slack as well as Slack GPT native AI features are currently in development.
