T-Mobile to Provide Free MLB.TV to Customers Through 2028

T-Mobile will offer its customers free MLB.TV subscriptions through 2028. The carrier posted on its website that it had extended its partnership to Major League Baseball. Customers will now be able to view baseball games free of charge each season.

T-Mobile offers MLB.TV as a free perk to its customers for eight years. It typically costs $149.99 per annum. T-Mobile offers livestreams of away and home games as well as access to post-game and pregame shows. Although you cannot catch live in-market games, you can still watch them on demand once they have aired across multiple platforms including iOS, Android and Roku.

T-Mobile announced the deal and said it is partnering with MLB to test an automated baseball-strike (ABS), powered by its private 5G network at minor league games. T-Mobile claims that the private network will allow ABS video and data to “transmit securely to help prevent interference via devices or the ABS application.”

T-Mobile has ended the free signup period for MLB.TV this year. If you don’t get a subscription this season, you will have another chance for the next six if you are still a T.Mobile customer. You’re out of luck if you thought Apple TV Plus would offer Friday Night Baseball free of charge this year. To catch every week’s game, you will need to subscribe to the service for $6.99 per year.

It’s also unfortunate that YouTube TV has dropped the MLB Network due to a carriage dispute. The YES Network offers a subscription for New York Yankees, Brooklyn Nets and New York Liberty games. However, you will need to be within the station’s “regional cover territory” to subscribe.

The company also stated that it is expanding 5G coverage in and around MLB stadiums. It said it is already deploying and expanding its 5G network, which is the industry’s best, across the country. This includes at MLB stadiums. It will lay the foundation for immersive 5G-connected experiences and better connectivity for T-Mobile customers.

Free MLB.TV is part TMobile Tuesdays perks which also includes freebies such as discounts on travel and dining and cashback. Magenta plans offer perks such as free Netflix, Apple TV+ and MLS Season Pass.
