Windows 11 Taskbar is Will Have Labels and Never Mix App Icons

Microsoft has finally added labels and icons for apps that never mix to the Windows 11 Taskbar. Microsoft has finally added these highly requested features to Windows 11 taskbar after overhauling and rebuilding the taskbar. As a result, Microsoft lost a great deal of functionality.

Twitter user Albcore noticed that Microsoft was close to testing the option to never combine apps icons for Windows 11 taskbar. This will be accompanied by text labels so users can more easily identify their apps. It’s great to see these features coming back. They were both present in Windows 10.

Microsoft has slowly improved the taskbar since I wrote my article about just before Windows 11 was released in 2021. The taskbar was lacking basic features like multiple monitors for the date and time, and it didn’t allow you to drag and drop files between apps. Microsoft has brought back for both of these and even for the Task Manager shortcut which was missing due to Windows 11 user complaints.

Microsoft has yet to announce whether it will support small icons on the Windows 11 taskbar, or if the taskbar can be resized and moved. Microsoft’s Windows Feedback app has received more than 26 000 votes for the feature of never combining app icons with labels. Also, the ability to resize Windows 11 Start Menu has received thousands of votes. The new seconds clock in Windows 11.

Soon, you’ll be able to enable seconds on the Windows 11 system tray or to hide the date and time entirely from the taskbar. Microsoft has not publicly announced that labels and never-combined app icons will be returning to the Windows 11 Taskbar. However, we are likely to hear about it soon. Microsoft has a Canary channel that previews major Windows changes. The company also tests experimental features and early features in the past, but they are not always disclosed.
