Microsoft has been testing updates to the Photos app in Windows 11. These include a Spot Fix tool that can fix blemishes on photos and a new slide show feature. Windows 11 testers on the Canary and Dev Channels have immediate access to the new features. They should also be available for all Windows 11 users within the next few months.
This new experience allows you to view your photos as a slideshow with all the animations, transitions and cheesy music. This was a feature request that we had received from users since the launch of the Photos app on Windows 11 in the Fall. The new slideshow in Photos for Windows 11.
Microsoft has also brought back a feature that was requested by many users: the timeline scrollbar. You can scroll back and forth through time to find photos and browse by month and year. This is especially useful if your memory of a certain year is fading.
Last but not least, a Spot Fix feature will allow you to remove unwanted areas or blemishes from your photos. It may sound similar to the Magic Eraser that Google offers. However, it is more of a tool for touch-ups that attempts to match the contents of the photos. It’s possible to adjust the size, but that is not the same thing as selecting an object and making it magically disappear. The Spot Fix feature of the Windows 11 Photos application.
Microsoft has improved its Photos app gradually over the last year. The Windows 11 2022 update introduced in the Photos app a new photo management interface that included a gallery, better browsing, and a feature to back up photos easily to OneDrive cloud storage.
