WordPress will soon get a new AI plugin that allows it to generate and edit text. The Jetpack AI Assistant is available for free to WordPress.com customers “for a short time” while Jetpack users will have to pay $10 per month after 20 requests. The Jetpack AI Assistant is the latest in a long line of AI-based text generation software. It will be available on the largest blogging and content management platform, WordPress.com. Users of Jetpack get 20 free requests but must pay $10 per month after that.
Automattic is responsible for the creation of the assistant. The company owns WordPress.com, and also contributes to the open-source WordPress development platform. by Automattic describes as a tool that allows users to “generate content at their command, reducing time and effort in content creation.”
Demonstrations show how the tool is used to summarize blog posts in a heading, adjust text tone (users have options such as “formal,” “provocative,” or “humorous”), and even generate a whole blog post from one prompt: “Write down a list Tokyo’s top destinations and give me an exchange rate table from JPY into USD and Euro.” Automattic also says that the tool can correct spelling and grammar, and translate between twelve languages, including English.
Copywriters are already losing work as clients switch to generative AI tools like ChatGPT. Many copywriters have already lost work due to clients switching over to AI-generated tools such as ChatGPT. In Automattic’s demo, for example, the rates that it offers are for August 2021. This date is the last day for which information will be available on ChatGPT. Automattic does not specify what software they use to power this tool.
